Dr Niamh Ní Chéilleachair
Lecturer on the BSc in Sports Science with Exercise Physiology in Athlone Institute of Technology
Dr. Niamh Ní Chéilleachair is a lecturer on the BSc in Sports Science with Exercise Physiology in Athlone Institute of Technology. She completed her undergraduate degree in Sport and Exercise Sciences in the University of Limerick before graduating with her PhD from UL in 2013. Her PhD incorporated a multidisciplinary approach to investigate novel training methods for endurance athletes. Niamh is also a Sport Ireland accredited performance physiologist providing physiological support to the Sport Ireland Institute. Her research interests include performance physiology and biomechanics and novel training interventions. She also has a keen research interest in motor control incorporating the development of fundamental movement skills in children and the impact of fundamental movement skill proficiency on physical activity. Niamh is currently supervising a number of postgraduate students and is the principal investigator on collaborative industry/academic research projects.
