Dr Grace O’Malley

Dr Grace O’Malley works as a research lecturer in the Division of Population Health Sciences RCSI and as a research clinician in Temple Street Children’s University Hospital where she leads the W82GO Obesity Service for children and adolescents.As a Chartered Physiotherapist, her work to date has focused on the development and evaluation of evidence-based assessment and treatment interventions for children with obesity and other endocrinological conditions. In the field of exercise medicine/therapy her work has explored the relationship between childhood obesity and musculoskeletal, cardiorespiratory health and physical activity. Grace was awarded a PhD Fellowship by the Health Research Board to explore whether connected health technologies could be feasibly integrated into healthcare delivery for youth with severe obesity and she was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship to Yale University where to investigate the pathophysiology of Type 2 Diabetes in children with severe obesity. She is Secretary of the Childhood Obesity Task Force of the EASO, Secretary of the European Childhood Obesity Group and the inaugural Chair of the Association for the Study of Obesity on the Island of Ireland.
