Dr Catherine McGorrian

Dr Catherine McGorrian PhD MRCPI is an Associate Clinical Professor in UCD, and a Consultant Cardiologist working from the Mater Heart House, where she has been involved in the Family Heart Screening Clinic since 2010. This clinic provides services including screening and management for families affected by genetic cardiac conditions, and for families who have been affected by sudden arrhythmic death syndrome. Dr McGorrian is a member of the national Sudden Cardiac Death Council and has spoken on topics including SADS, SCD and exercise in cardiac diseases at national meetings. Her research interests include the inherited channelopathies, biomarkers in cardiomyopathies, and genotype-phenotype correlations in inherited cardiac diseases. She pioneered the first study looking at inherited cardiac diseases in SADS victims in Ireland and had published over 30 peer reviewed papers in inherited cardiac diseases and cardiac risk.
